Netflix announced today its plans to launch a new television series based on the great Castlevania video game saga sometime this year.
Unfortunately, there are still not many official details on this point, as this information was obtained from a series of announcements that Netflix made today as part of a press release, where it lists Castlevania Season 1, Part 1 to come out in 2017. In the description of the series, you can read.
The classic video game series; Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy that follows, the last surviving chapter of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hands of Vlad Dracula Tepe.”
The animated series is from Frederick Studios, a company of Wow Unlimited Media, and will be written by comic book writer Warren Ellis and also produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar.
Of this same project already had clues had been given last year. Seibert, an Adventure Time producer, was a guest on the Nick Animation podcast in December. In it, he mentioned that he was working on something related to one of the most important video games of the last 30 years.
On the other hand, earlier this year, Dress and Lone Survivor executive producer said on Facebook, that he was working on an upcoming series of Castlevania alongside Seibert.
For now, it is only necessary to wait to know more details of the series. For its part, the Castlevania franchise itself has been slowly forgotten by Konami, although one of the men behind it, Koji Igarashi, is independently creating a spiritual sequel to Symphony of the Night called Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
