Television is a system for transmitting pictures and sound at a distance through Hertzian waves. In the case of cable television, transmission is done through a specialized network.
The idea of television came with the combination of the Greek word title (“distance”) and the Latin term visio (“vision”). The concept allows referring to both the transmission system and the device that permits the viewing of images (also called television), television programming and the television station.
The first stations (or televisions) only transmitted images in black and white. The next step was to create color television screens of different sizes. The last breakthrough was the development of flat televisions with LCD or plasma televisions.
