The exciting innovation that Peugeot has announced for the Geneva Motor Show 2016 is still good news. This is the 100% electrification of the Peugeot Partner Tepee Electric passenger van. However, the premiere of a new electric vehicle is soiled, this time, by the suitability of its launch.
The problem many see to this new Partner Tepee with electric propellant is an autonomy little promising for the times that run. It is that the van will ride the same pack as its predecessor, the Peugeot Partner Tepee Electric, released three years ago. That equals 22.5 kWh of energy capacity for 170 kilometers in the current NEDC cycle (in real conditions the autonomy will be much lower, as you well know). Even so, it is possible to find some advantages to the Peugeot Partner Tepee Electric.
We refer to its interior space and its habitability and more taking into account that it is an electric. The manufacturer has managed to house the battery in the rear subframe so that the interior space is equivalent to that of the thermal version. In this way, the trunk reaches 1,350 liters with five people mounted, being able to reach 3,000 liters with two occupants in front and the rear seats removed.
As for its synchronous permanent magnet propeller, it offers the same technical characteristics as the Peugeot Partner Tepee Electric, with 49 kW (67 hp) of power and 200 Nm of torque. Although it comes with the possibility of rapid loading via ChadeMO, its loading times in general take are somewhat limited for this period, reaching the full load in about 8.5 hours.
The question we ask is whether you will find a place in the market this van, or if on the contrary is doomed from the beginning to occupy a reduced niche within already a niche of electric mobility. It will depend on to a large extent on the price PSA decides. What is clear is that it will not be able to compete with the new generations to come
