Audi presents the details of the new Audi RS 3 Sportback 2018 – a model that arrive with a facelift, new features of technology and an even more powerful engine, of 405 horses. From 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 4.1 seconds
The performance of the Audi RS 3 Sportback 2018 is the result of the adoption of the most powerful five-cylinder series production engine in the world – the 2.5 TFSI. It delivers 405 horsepower (33 hp more than the predecessor) – and is 26 kg lighter thanks to its aluminum crankcase, among other features.
Its maximum torque of 480 Nm is available at engine speeds as low as 1,700 rpm and remains constant up to 5,850 rpm. This is how the Sportback RS 3 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.1 seconds. The effect of this traction force is enhanced by the unmistakable sound of the five-cylinder engine, which results from having alternating ignition between cylinders directly adjacent and widely spaced.
The maximum speed is limited electronically to 250 km / h but can reach 280 km / h if the buyer so requests.
For better preparation of the mixture, the new TFSI 2.5 engine employs the second injection in the intake manifold and the combustion chambers. On the exhaust side, the Audi valve lift system controls the length of the valve opening, depending on the throttle and engine speed – for moderate to small and partial load fuel consumption, as well as a more spontaneous throttle response and high power Full load.
In the new European driving cycle (NEDC), the RS 3 Sportback uses 8.3 liters of fuel per 100 km, which gives an average consumption of 12 km/l.Quattro with variable power
Distribution: The RS3 Sportback 2018 adopts an S Tronic seven-speed double clutch transmission associated with a Quattro all-wheel drive, which selects a multi-plate electro-hydraulic clutch and distributes drive torque variably between the axles. The more sporty you drive, the faster and more often a large part of the torque directed to the rear axle. The Quattro’s control system integrated into the Audi drive select control system, which also changes direction, S Tronic transmission, engine management, adjustable exhaust wings and the optional RS sports suspension with adaptive damping control.
The driver can individually vary the operation of these components in three modes – comfort, auto and dynamic. Steering is improved by using the Electronic Stabilization Control (ESC) with selective wheel torque control and the specially adjusted sports mode for RS.
With a progressive steering, rear axle Four and the suspension reduced by 25 millimeters compared to the A3, the RS 3 Sportback combines dynamism and superior stability. Compared with the conventional model, the gauge on the front axle of the RS 3 Sportback is larger by 20 millimeters – and the wheel bins are consequently enlarged. By default, Audi includes 19-inch cast wheels and 235/35 tires, and brake discs with a diameter of 310 mm. Alternatively, customers will be able to choose ceramic carbon fiber discs at the front. On the rear axle, brake discs with a diameter of 310 mm

The centrally positioned driver information system includes a turbo pressure gauge, an oil thermometer, and a lap timer. The all-digital Audi virtual cockpit displays infotainment system data and is optionally available. An individual RS show shifts the tachometer to the center, showing torque readings, tire pressure and forces on both sides. When the transmission is running in manual mode, a scale with a colored background asks the driver to use the steering wheel lever or the selector lever to raise the gears when approaching the maximum speeds.
The RS 3 Sportback is equipped with sports seats in black Nappa leather as standard. RS sports seats with more contoured profiles and integrated head restraints for the driver and front passenger are available as options.
