Ever wanted to have a speaker that could glow in dark? Well, there is something much more cooler in the market. Introducing the sound torch (yes, it is as cool as the Human Torch from Fantastic 4). The sound torch is a portable Bluetooth speaker which has a unique feature of a built-in pyro board, which “fires up” in different formations depending upon the music that is being played.
The innovation works depending upon the sound waves of the music that is being played by creating flames. The pyro board consists of small holes through which gas is exhaled, and with the sound waves creating different levels of intensity, the flames appear as if they are dancing to the rhythm of the music.
The sound torch can be connected to any bluetooth audio device, and it has an in-built battery which can last for up to 12 hours. The pyro fluid which is needed to fuel the pyro- board can run up to 4 before refilling it.
To make things more interesting, an app is being developed to facilitate interaction with the pyro board directly. In other words, don’t look for candle the next time the electricity fails you.
As it is the case with fire, real or artificial, it comes with its own set of dangers. It is dangerous to place your hand on top of it. Therefore, the creators of this speaker suggest that this product is suitable only for 18 years old and above. The product also comes with some safety measures. For example the sound torch turns off when the speaker is knocked on to the floor, if the temperature gets too high or no input is detected.
Funded through a kick starter campaign, the sound torch is set to be released by December 2016, partly owing to some regulatory approval problem; and when the product is going to be available on the stores, it would cost around the range of $160.
