Bike lovers have a new treat waiting for them in terms of bike security, Gone are the days when you had to manually go and unlock your your lock from your bike. A new lock in town manufactured by Linka boasts of an in-built bluetooth setup which will be controlled by a mobile application in your phone.
The moment you reach near your bike , this smart lock will sense your presence with the help of the in-built bluetooth and will automatically unlock.
There have been other automatic locks before such as Noke, U-Lock, Sky-Lock, and Bit-Lock. But Linka stands by locking to the frame of the bike.
When locked, a 9-mm-thick steel ring renders the bike immovable. As the bike will not turn its wheel, the thief will have to carry the bike and run, which any sane thief wont do. Even if the thief is daring enough to steal the bike, a 100db alarm will be set-off and a message will be sent to the biker telling that the bike is not in its place.
An extra layer of security has been offered by the company by offering a lasso chain, if the biker intends to bind its bike to some support. Linka has also partnered with bikeindex.org to alert the biker about the area where he or she plans to park their bike. If the area seems unsafe the biker is immediately cautioned.
Velasso, the company making the lock is looking into crowd funding to bring its product into the market. They are seeing some success in this area. Hope they make it.
